Destiny 2 Grasp of Avarice Loot Table Guide – How to Get All the Gear

The Bungie 30th Anniversary Event is officially live, which means there’s a bunch of new content coming to Destiny 2. Along with a six-player matchmade activity, players can explore the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon set in the fabled loot cave. There’s also a bunch of new armor and weapons that users can unlock or purchase in the Eververse store, all of which are tied to the history of this developer.

One of the most exciting additions is the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon. Containing three core encounters, this is an insidious dungeon that will keep you on your toes from the very start. Of course, the main reason we’re venturing into this cave is all the sweet, sweet loot. Here’s a guide on how to get every item in the dungeon and what each encounter can possibly reward.

Grasp of Avarice Secret Chest Locations

Along with all the loot you will earn from completing the encounters above, there are also two secret chests in this dungeon. Just like other secret chests, these will only reward you with the gear you’ve previously earned in the dungeon. This means that, if you got some boots, a chest piece, and the Eyasluna your first time through, you will only get one of those items the next time you enter the dungeon and open these secret chests.

Because of this, secret chests won’t be terribly lucrative right away. However, they will become a terrific source of rewards upon repeat playthroughs on other characters or throughout the week. Additionally, starting on December 16, secret chests will not be a repeatable source of rewards on the same character. This means you can only open the secret chests once per week on each character.

Secret Chest Number 1

The first secret chest is in the large circular room with the blue stripe running along the wall. This will be when you need to throw some switches to gain access to the Scorch Cannon to raise the gate. Between the Number 3 and Number 4 sections is a large metal beam. Adjacent from this beam is a small, collapsable platform that’s embedded into the wall.

Jump onto this platform and then quickly face the metal beam. You will see the chest above you on a platform attached to this beam. Just be quick because the platform not holding the chest will drop you into the abyss after a second or two.

Secret Chest Number 2

Thankfully, the second secret chest is much easier to find. Progress through the dungeon until you reach the Sparrow sequence and make your way to the very end when you fly into the massive crystal skull. After disarming the mine, face the way you came in so you’re looking out of the skull’s mouth. Turn left and climb up the crystals until you’re on a large one that connects to the skull’s right eye. In the eyesocket, you will find the second secret chest on a small pile of crystals.

Destiny 2 will be getting a brand new content pack for Bungie’s 30th anniversary. Here’s everything that’s in it, and what you need to know to grab it yourself.

Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Witch Queen, was pushed back to February 2022, but Bungie has added a new content pack to help players keep playing until Season 16.

The Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack will celebrate the developer’s lineage, across the likes of Myth, Marathon, Oni, Halo, and of course, Destiny. It’s not immediately obvious how the content is divided up between free and paid items, but this guide should make things a little easier to digest.

The content arrives on December 7, 2021. That’s a Tuesday, so expect it alongside the game’s usual weekly reset.

How to get the Destiny 2 Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack

You can pre-order the 30th Anniversary Pack for Destiny 2 right now on Steam or on the Xbox or PlayStation stores, whichever you play on.

The Bungie pack currently costs $24.99/£21.99 no matter where you purchase it, and there’s no sign that will change before release. The cost of the DLC has been contentious among fans.

The pack is also included in the Destiny 2: Witch Queen and 30th Anniversary Edition – that’ll set you back $99.99/£87.99, but also includes the Witch Queen expansion, season passes for Seasons 16, 17, 18, and 19, two Year 5 dungeons, an exotic SMG and catalyst, and a sparrow.

What’s in Bungie’s 30th Anniversary Destiny 2 pack

The 30th Anniversary pack will feature some free content, as well as paid extras. Here’s everything you’ll find, whether you buy the pack or not.

Free Content

In terms of free content, players will be able to take part in a new six-player matchmade activity. We’d imagine this will be along the lines of a traditional seasonal activity – think Astral Alignment, Override, or similar.

There will also be “iconic weapons to collect”, although whether these are new or reprised Destiny 1 weapons is anyone’s guess at this point. Expect at least one of these to be tied to the aforementioned six-player matchmade activity, though.

Bungie has mentioned “mysteries to unravel,” which points to some sort of narrative element. We’ll add to this when we know more, but Bungie has also promised “rewards that commemorate our long and storied history together,” although we still don’t know what those will be.

Players can also expect a hefty balance patch for Destiny 2, with a focus on shotguns and exotics.

The Gjallarhorn is back in Destiny 2, and looking better than ever.

First and foremost, we have to talk about the Gjallarhorn. This exotic rocket launcher from the original game in the series is being added to Destiny 2 for Bungie’s anniversary. It’s unknown whether or not it will be available for players who don’t get the pack at this point, either.

Want even more Gjallarhorn? Well, the anniversary pack also includes an awesome-looking Sparrow with the weapon’s gold wolf livery. You’ll have a tough time finding a better-looking way to speed around than this. Both the sparrow and the Gjallarhorn are available through the new “pirate-themed” dungeon.

Just try and find a better-looking Sparrow in Destiny 2. We’ll wait.

You’d think this would be space pirate-themed, but we wouldn’t count out Bungie including the nautical variety either. It’ll be set in the Loot Cave on the Cosmodrome, too, a fun nod to the first game’s history.

The Thorn-inspired Armor Set you can see in the header image of this article will also be included, along with some special Bungie-themed ornaments and cosmetics, including the streetwear-style set at the top of the page.

Destiny 1 weapons including Eysaluna and 1000 Yard Stare will also make a comeback, while the Claymore from Myth and the shotgun from Marathon will also be added. No sign of the rumored Halo crossover weapons yet, though.

Finally, players who get the pack will also receive the Claymore Sword from Myth to use in Destiny 2, which looks perfect for cutting up enemies left and right.

Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris mode has long been the pinnacle of the game’s PvP modes, offering the sweatiest, toughest combat but the sweetest rewards. The game’s current season, Season of the Lost, has made the mode much more accessible, too, by adding matchmaking and other quality of life improvements ahead of the Witch Queen expansion.

Trials Labs, Bungie’s way of tweaking the Trials of Osiris experience, has been adding fresh wrinkles to the experience, and this week’s one is perfect for players that don’t have others to play with, or who prefer to adventure alone.

You’ll still need to win seven matches in a row to get to the Lighthouse, but this week’s bonus rewards are worth logging in for.

Trials offers bonus rewards for solos

As per Bungie’s weekly blog post, players jumping into the “Freelance: Trials Lab” playlist will earn double Trials of Osiris reputation.

“If you’re rounding out your Trials specific armor collection or aiming for a good roll on any of the weapons that Trials has to offer, this is a great weekend to jam out some rep,” the blog explains.

For the uninitiated, the Freelance playlist prevents anyone from entering if they’re in a Fireteam. This means that you won’t come up against pre-made squads like you would in the standard Trials of Osiris mode, so you’re on a more equal footing in terms of being able to communicate with teammates. The mode has been around for a while, but the addition of double Trials reputation is a big win for those that have felt frozen out by Trials of Osiris’ reliance on squads.

Trials reputation is used to earn new items from Saint-14, the mode’s vendor, and if players are still looking to fill out their collection of weapons and armor, or are looking for better rolls on ones they already have, there’s never been a better time to pick up a Trials Passage and go to work.

The Reed’s Regret is up for grabs if players complete a seasonal challenge

As Bungie’s blog also notes, there’s a weekly challenge that happens to nicely line up with this Trials Lab, too. “Trial by Firing Squad” requires 20 round wins over the course of the weekend, and will earn players XP for their season pass, Bright Dust to spend on cosmetics, and the Reed’s Regret Linear Fusion Rifle.

SOLSTICE OF HEROES 2021 ACTIVITIES

Solstice of Heroes 2021 sees the return of two Solstice staples: the European Aerial Zone and Elemental Orbs.

EUROPEAN AERIAL ZONE

The European Aerial Zone is a returning activity for Destiny 2’s 2021 Solstice of Heroes. It takes place in a unique area around the EDZ, but you access it in the Tower.

To succeed in the European Aerial Zone, you need to kill as many minibosses as you can in the time limit the game gives you. When time is up, you’ll face off against the final boss. Kill it, and you’ll return to the European Aerial Zone to hunt for treasure. The more minibosses you kill, the more chests you have to hunt.

To open these chests, you’ll need Solstice Key Fragments. To earn the Key Fragments, you need to complete activities during the Solstice of Heroes event.

ELEMENTAL ORBS

Solstice of Heroes has a daily rotating elemental burn, which enhances the powers of Arc, Solar, or Void for the day.

Killing enemies with elemental energy drops an Elemental Orb, which isn’t tied to the burn of the day. But if you collect 30 Elemental Orbs that do match the daily burn, you’ll activate a powerful buff depending on the element.

Here’s what they do in Bungie’s own words:

Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Arc elemental power. While empowered, Guardians move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.
Equip your Solar subclass and weapons to generate Solar orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.
Equip your Void subclass and weapons to generate Void orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Void elemental power. Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.
Equip your Stasis subclass and weapons to generate Stasis orbs. Stasis empowerment

ADVANCED PROGRESS FOR SECONDARY CHARACTERS

Solstice of Heroes 2021 has a new-ish process for speeding up progress for your second and third characters. It’s functionality we’ve seen before in this event, but now it’s a bit more obvious.

In the Tower, you can buy new upgrades from Eva Levante: armor accelerators. Eve sells four of these accelerators, and you’ll unlock one at a time.

You’ll unlock the first one when you complete your first Solstice set on your first character. You’ll unlock the next when you complete your second Tier 1 Solstice set. These two initial accelerators increase the rate of rare armor upgrades. It’s not clear how much faster it is, but it’s been 2x and then 3x in previous years.

The second tier works similarly. Once you have a single Tier 2 Solstice set, you’ll unlock the first boost, and the second will come once you have two Tier 2 Solstice sets.

The idea here is that you can upgrade your sets gradually and enjoy an even faster process on your other characters. If you complete the first set on your Titan, your Warlock set would theoretically be twice as fast, with your final set being three times as fast.

The ideal order here is to complete your Renewed armor set on your first character, purchase the upgrade, and then complete your second Renewed on your second character. Once you buy the second upgrade, your third Renewed set should go very quickly. Follow the same process for the Majestic sets and you’ll start moving very quickly through your second and third characters.

Eva will give you the helmet for your first set, and ask you to complete a run in the European Aerial Zone. Put on the helmet and complete the activity. When you’re done, come back to her. She’ll give you a new quest to meditate at the Statue of Heroes. Oblige her, and you’ll get the full set. Equip all of it and talk to her again.

Complete the objectives below to upgrade your Renewed set to the Majestic set.
