This new armor set is no longer following the theme of the Egyptian gods that they have previously been using and has branched out into more Animal style armor. Bungie gives the sets a little extra flair with falcon feathers present in the titan and hunter arms and warlock helmet, the hunter helmet looks to take huge inspiration from the animal kingdom as it resembles a baboon. The community has had a mixed reception to the new armor as some guardians don’t like the new style preferring the Egyptian god theme rather than the animal theme.

What Does It Do?

Unlocking the new Atavistic Idol armor allows you to use it within the new transmog systems. You no longer need to complete the Trials of Osiris badge for the Flawless seal or the gilding of the Flawless seal, however, unlocking the new armor set can be used in multiple cosmetics and any fashion shows you would like to participate in.

Where Does It Come From?

The Trials of Osiris is the competitive PvP-mode found within Destiny 1 and 2 which is available to play only over the weekends, starting from the daily reset on Fridays. The mode pits two teams of three in an elimination-style mode where the first team to win five rounds wins the whole match. However, on some weekends Bungie change up the rules and introduce things such as capture the point and in previous years they’ve added bomb sites which had to be planted, similar to Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy game mode. Winning consecutive games without losing in this game mode is how you earn the highest tier rewards however you still gain reputation and other pinnacle rewards via just playing and winning games even without being flawless. Each week the map and Flawless reward changes, making the playing field and stakes different from week to week!
